“Abrye’s unique gifts and skills combine perfectly to act as a Post-Birth Doula. She provided the most thoughtful and respectful support and care during two of most challenging times of my life: Postpartum and undergoing a double mastectomy, then postpartum and facing chemo treatment for my newborn baby. I wish every new parent could be cared and supported by someone as skilled and conscientious as Abrye. She’s observant and always ten steps ahead of you—without ever making you feel left behind. She’s spiritual and mindful, without becoming self-aggrandizing. She’s instantly part of the family, but somehow never oversteps. Everyone feels (and eats!) better when Abrye is around.
Some favourite moments:
• Abrye knew how to manage the relentless tasks caring for both my newborn, and later my newborn AND my busy toddler. She was never performative or controlling when caregiving, and my kiddos absolutely adore her.
• Abrye cooked delicious and nourishing meals for not only me and my husband, but for our family and friends. It made hosting visitors in the newborn days so much more easy enjoyable. She was always considerate of people’s dietary restrictions and preferences. Even customizing individual meals (eg swapping rice for cauliflower, less chili, vegetarian options). Plus she’d batch cook, so there was always something yummy in the fridge, and emergency options in the freezer.
• Abrye was so warm and encouraging for me as a vulnerable mother—whether through gentle affirmations, unexpected written notes, or facilitated self-care practices. I’ll never forget her help doing my post-mastectomy physio exercises, which were sometimes calm and mindful, sometimes giggling ourselves silly. And Abrye also introduced me to breathwork, which opened my eyes to a form of self-care I never even considered. Five stars. 10/10.”
